9 Iconic places to visit Durgapur


Durgapur, a city in the heart of West Bengal. Many might not consider it a tourist spot but it sure has some places worth visiting. In eastern India, Durgapur is the only city with an operational dry dock. Durgapur is known as the “Ruhr of Bengal.”.

So without any further ado let’s take a trip around Durgapur:

1. Junction Mall

2. Bhabani Pathak’s Tilla

Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay in his novels, ‘Devi Chaudhurani’ and ‘Durgesh Nandini’ mentioned this maze of tunnels and ever since then, it is one of Durgapur’s prime attractions.

3. Deul Park 

An amazing picnic spot.

4. Mohan Kumar Mangalam Park 

Great place for family outings.

5. Durgapur Barrage

The Durgapur Barrage spans the Damodar River between Durgapur in Bankura district and Paschim Bardhaman district in West Bengal state, India.

 Damodar Valley Corporation constructed it in part for irrigation and to supply water to Durgapur’s industrial township.

6. Durgapur Steel Plant

Durgapur Steel Plant, located in the eastern Indian state of West Bengal, is an integrated steel plant owned by Steel Authority of India Limited.

In the growing industrial city of Durgapur, it is located on the banks of the Damodar River in the Paschim Bardhaman district.

7. Bidhan Nagar Ram Temple
