Say “Hi” To Mr Alligator AKA Jaanwaro Ka Kumbhkaran
A confused writer in this not so confused world with…
Alligators are known to be one of the deadliest creatures on this planet. Thus, before encountering the one unprepared, here’s all that you need to know about this, “har dum bhukha rehne wala jaanwar,” Alligator:
1. An alligator is an animal of the crocodilian genus belonging to the Alligatoridae family.
2. The living species of the alligators include the American Alligator and the Chinese Alligator. They first appeared about 37 million years ago.
- Alligators are enormously powerful and deadliest creatures when it comes to biting. It was discovered in a 2004 study that an alligator bites down with 2960 pounds or 13,172 newtons of force.
4. Alligators have an insatiable appetite, as they can consume almost 1/4th of their total body weight in a single meal. In simpler terms, they are always hungry.
5. Their body consists of a particular blood vessel that pushes blood away from their lungs to their stomachs. This results in a quicker breakdown of meals due to concentrated stomach acid.
6. Alligators have some extra protection due to their armour-like skin. They also have a particular serum in their blood that immunes them to bacterial and viral infections.
7. Alligators are often known to eat their young ones. When an alligator is born, it’s small and fits to be a light snack for its older ones. That’s one of the biggest threats for American Alligators!
8. It won’t look like it, but alligators can climb trees despite their short legs. An inclined surface is needed for them to climb up the tree.
9. Alligators don’t have vocal cords, but by sucking air in and then expelling it out from their lungs, they can make different sounds.
Remember how the old palace outlets and later (to this day) many cartoon shows portrayed alligators as weapons to threaten lives. Well, now you exactly know why!
