Cactus originates from the Greek name, Kaktos, which means the prickly plant of Sicily. Kaktos is also a Spanish Artichoke that is cultivated as a food.
There is also a Latin origin known as Cardoon.

Cacti and Succulents Stomata AKA Raat Ka Raja

Cacti and Succulent only open their stomata at night only when the temperatures are cool, acting completely like South Delhi Peeps.
There is a scientific process behind that known as CAM (Crassulacean acid metabolism).
Just like us, Cacti hate summers. So, they keep their stomata closed both day and night. During this phase, they do not grow at all.

These plants use waxy-coating to discourage water loss as they grow up in really tough circumstances (bahut struggle hai yaar).
Yeh hai raaz: they go through the scorching sun and warm winds in the desert that quickly leads to water loss. Thus, nature said ‘tathaastu’ to waxy skin.

Some areolas can produce multiple flowers, but it is a misconception that kaate vale plants have no phools.
But yes, it is true that after producing flowers, the areolas become incapable of growing any more flowers.
BUT exceptions are always there. P.schotti, Myrtillocactus, Lepismium cruciforme have more flowers.

Cacti and Succulent: ‘Do Not Touch Me!’

Do not dare to hurt or destroy your Cactus without safety measures. Sometimes, it will lead you to troubles. A cactus can fall and damage your property, loved ones or environment. So, better be safe while dealing with it.
As we have a story to learn a lesson, in 1982 Arizona, a man tried to destroy a Cactus by shooting at it. It fell and killed him instantly!
