You must have seen Dalip Tahil in many movies, but do you know anything about his life?
Read about Dalip Tahil, a television and theatre actor, best known for his work in the films: Baazigar (1993), Bhaag Milkha Bhaag (2013) and Ra.One (2011).
1. Dalip was born on 30 October 1952 in Agra, Uttar Pradesh. He is also known as Dalip Tahiliani.
2. He is married to Amrita, and has a son named Dhruv Tahil. His father was Mr Ghansham Jethanand Tahilramani who was part of Indian Air Force.
3. Dalip used to actively participate in the various plays and drama competitions during his school days.
4. In 1968, he moved to Mumbai. He began his professional acting career and joined the Theatre Group.
5. Some of his notable films are Arth, Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak, Saudagar, Baazigar, Ishq, Talaash: The Hunt Begins, Bhaag Milkha Bhaag and Umeed.
6. Tahil achieved National attention across the UK, where he wanted Dan Ferreira, in the iconic ‘BBC 1 soap opera EastEnders’.
7. Dalip has been part of a few TV serials, including Sanjay Khan’s The Sword of Tipu Sultan and Ramesh Sippy’s Buniyaad. He was last seen in movies, Guilty and Darbar.
8. With the hype around the #MeToo Movement, a years-ago incident was re-visited from Dalip Tahil’s life. He asked one of his co-actress to give a written and recorded consent to him before shooting a rape sequence. The actor confirmed later that the incident was not related to the MeToo Movement in India. He was just not comfortable without being assured that the actress didn’t have any problem.
The most notable work of Dahil is usually for supporting or adverse roles in Bollywood cinema and Hindi TV industry.
