Gen-Z Sees Don As India’s Answer To James Bond
I am a creative head and films are my passion.…
Directed by Farhan Akhtar, Don was released in 2005. It is an official remake of Amitabh Bachchan’s flick of the same name. Apart from entrusting justice to the original was also credible for giving rise to remake-trend in the Indian Film industry. There was a lot of hush and hush about how Farhan would pull this off, but he had his style for narrating the story that didn’t supersede Barot’s style of Direction.
The new version is refreshed with thrilling chase sequences, lavish locations giving it a modern touch and visually appealing strata.
The Story Of Don
- The remake of the 1978’s Don, starring Amitabh Bachchan, Don follows a similar screenplay and storyline. The story is set in Malaysia, where Don (Shahrukh Khan) is the most dangerous criminal in an association that ranges the globe carrying drugs.

- Don heads up the Malaysian “arms of the pack” and works for Singhania (Rajesh Khattar), the opponent of gangster, Vardhaan.
- DCP DiSilva (Boman Irani) is on the path of the criminal alongside his associate Inspector Verma (Sidharth Jyoti) and Interpol Officer Vishal Malik (Om Puri).

 The Characters In Don
- Shahrukh seems to relish playing the completely savage character of Don and is maybe excessively flashy. His technique is unique. His presence and energy in the initial scenes (when he impersonates some ballet artists after a couple of seconds) causes slaughter and disorder during a bargain turned out to be intimidating.

- Priyanka Chopra as Roma is wild and glamorous, and Kareena Kapoor as Kamini is wicked and focused on revenge. Both Kareena and Priyanka look stunning in their respective roles.
- Om Puri as an officer does reasonably well in a short yet significant part. His scenes with Don bring about one of the inescapable sights from the film.

The Direction Of Don
- Farhan Akhtar had a barrage of pressure to prove himself as a prominent filmmaker. Coming from a family of greats like Javed, Zoya and Shabana Azmi, there were high hopes from him, on which he stood out.Â

- Farhan took a serious risk, making a remake of a classic written by his father.Â
- Right from casting, music and recreating iconic scenes, Akhtar didn’t dissatisfy its audience.

 Did You Know?
- SRK himself choreographed the fight sequence between Shahrukh and Boman Irani.
- The password that Rampal adds onto the computer is Farhan Akhtar’s Birthday, “F09AK74”.
- Before finalising Shahrukh Khan, Akhtar wanted someone like Hrithik Roshan for the role of Don. However, later he realised that the character needs mature looks and personality.
