Menon does not just share his birthday with the father of the nation, MK Gandhi, but also had his first significant performance in the movie, Mahatma-vs-Gandhi, that too next too, the golden actor, Naseeruddin Shah.

1. Krishna Kumar Menon, usually known as Kay Kay Menon in the Indian Film Industry, has gained fame due to his soulful acting and beautiful eyes.

2. You must have seen his skills in various Hindi movies. These include Singh is Bling, Gulaal, Shaurya, Black Friday and in the never forgetting-role of Captain Rann Vijay Singh from The Ghazi Attack.

3. Menon, after completing his schooling from St. Josephs Boys High School, Pune, opted for a Bachelor’s degree in Physics from Mumbai University. After graduating, he did his Majors in Marketing from The University of Pune and officially graduated in 1998.
Here’s an interesting fact! Kay Kay Menon initially wanted to work in the Advertisement Industry.

4. Menon started his Acting Training in Theatre Productions, where his eyes met Nivedita Bhattacharya whom he married later.

5. Menon’s performance went unnoticed initially in underrated films like Naseem (1995) and Bhopal Express (1999), which later proved to be the main reason for his struggle inside the industry.

6. In the early 2000s, he starred in the T.V. Series, The Last Train to Mahakali, Zebra 2, etc. He was praised for his role as the Prime Minister in Ketan Mehta’s Pradhan Mantri (2001).
In The Hindu, Sevanti Ninan wrote, “an actor to watch: Kay Kay Menon … this unusually tall actor who plays the Pradhan Mantri is a major saving grace”.

7. Later on, Menon played the role of a singer in Anurag Kashyap’s Paanch, which had some difficulties with the Censor Board and remained unreleased.

8. He also worked in Hazaaro Khawaishein Aesi and Black Friday, but both had to wait for years to get a release date. His commercial films, Deewar and Silsiilay, also flopped at the Box Office.

9. After having a struggling career, Menon needed another break, which he received from Ram Gopal Verma’s, Sarkaar. This movie was proved to be another great break in his career as it earned him a nomination for Best Performance in a Negative Role in Filmfare Awards.
