Leh Ladakh- The Biker`s Paradise In India

Jammu and Kashmir’s valley includes the small city of Leh, located near the Himalayas. Biker and adventurers will find this to be one of the best getaway spots.

How to reach

  •  Kushok Bakula Rimpochee Airport in Leh connects the region to other places by air.
  • Ladakh is 700 kilometres away by rail from Jammu Tawi (the closest station). From here, one can hire a cab or take a JKSRTC bus to Ladakh.
  • The road remains the most popular way to reach Ladakh. The destination can be reached by bike or Jeep. The most popular bike trips are from Delhi, Chandigarh, and Manali.

Rohtang La Pass

There is no way to complete a Ladakh bike trip without crossing Rohtang Pass. Most army personnel think it is an easy road, but only bikers know how difficult it can be to navigate this high-altitude road. As well as being very scenic, it makes for a perfect destination for photographers. You can get the best views of the Himalayas from here and also a great place to ride a motorcycle.

Towards Chenab River

As you descend the Rohtang Pass, you will come to a tiny hamlet called Gramphu. If you are travelling to Spiti, this is where you split. You can ride to the Gramphu River from here. This place is dotted with guesthouses and shacks that serve wholesome and delicious food.

A deeper look into Ladakh

Motorcycle expeditions are very common in India, Nepal and Tibet, and many people do this circuit at least once in their lifetime. Motorbike enthusiasts find this place very enticing because of its rugged landscape. The experience of riding in landscapes of such extraordinary stature is unique. Several other sports like jeep safaris, cycling, white water rafting and trekking are very popular here too.
