Mauryan art is art created between 322 and 185 BCE during the Mauryan Empire, which was the first empire to control most of the Indian subcontinent.

It was a watershed moment in Indian art since it symbolized the transition from wood to stone. It was a royal art that Mauryan kings, particularly Ashoka, supported. The most notable survivors include pillars, stupas, and caverns.

If I were to describe it in my terms, then art is a form of expression for imaginative or technical skill. It creates a finished result, a thing. Art encompasses a wide range of human activities involving the production of visual and performance artifacts and the expression of the author’s artistic imagination. A work of artwork is a finished piece of art that is viewed by others.
