Mehmood Ali Khan: The Greatest Actor Of All Time!

Mehmood Ali Khan is an actor who made us laugh and made us cry whenever he wished to, in all his movies. Find the journey of Mehmood Ali Khan as one of the greatest actors of all the time.

  1. Mehmood Ali Khan was born on 29 September 1932, in Bombay. He was an Actor, Singer, Producer and Director, who worked in more than 300 films in Hindi Cinema in his whole career and mainly known for Comic roles.

2. His parents were also actor and dancer. They used to play at live events at that time. His Sister Minno Mumtaz was also a Dancer and Actress.

3, Mehmood was very naughty since childhood. That’s why he got the role of a child-actor in Bombay Talkies film Kismat.

4. He used to do many petty jobs for money like Driving, Selling Eggs and teaching Table Tennis to Meena Kumari.

5. Once Meena Kumari tried to help him. She told BR Chopra to give a chance to Mehmood. But, when Mehmood came to know that, he denied. He didn’t wish anyone to help him to make his name in Bollywood.

6. After that, he met filmmaker Gurudutt. He got a small role in Pyasa, along with CID, Do Bigha Zameen.

7. He got his breakthrough in Bhoot Bungla. Slowly, he became the funniest comedian-actor after Johnny Walker. After that, he showed another form of acting skills with the movie Kunwara Baap.

8. Amitabh Bachchan was the tenant of Mehmood at that time. He also helped Amitabh Bachchan and gave a chance in the film Bombay to Goa as the lead.

9. Once, Mehmood got upset with Amitabh Bachchan. It was because once Mehmood was in the hospital due to surgery. At the same time, Amitabh’s father was also there. Amitabh Bachchan met his father but not Mehmood.

10. He was awarded for the Filmfare Best Supporting Actor for Dil Tera Diwana (1963), and Four times for Filmfare Best Comedian Award for Pyar Kiye Jaa(1967), Vaaris(1970), Paras!972), Vardaan(1975).

Due to a long-lasting illness of heart, at the age of 72, Mehmood Ali Khan left this world on 4 October 2004, in Dunmore Pennsylvania. Andaz Apna Apna (1994) was his last film.
