Paralympics is an international multi-sport event for athletes with disabilities and here are Top 11 Paralympics Players of the world!
Trischa Zorn: Amongst the renowned Paralympics Players is a US Swimmer who has won 55 medals between 1980 to 2004, including 41-Gold, 9-Silver and 5-Bronze.
Ragnhild Myklebust: She is a Norwegian Skier who has won most medals in Winter Paralympics with 22-Gold, 3-Silver and 2-Bronze, between 1988to 2002.
Helena Lucas MBE: After her permanent thumb-injury, this UK-based Gold medalist in Paralympics has become the First ever British Sailor to do so. She was also an appointed Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) in 2013.
Jonas Jacobsson: He is a Swedish Shooter who was born paralyzed from the waist down. He owns 17-Gold, 4-Silver, and 9-Bronze medals today.
Michael Edgson: He has won the title of BC Disabled Athlete of the Year Award 3 times. He has won 18-Gold medals between 1984 to 1992 and also set 9 World Records.
Franz Nietlispach: This Swiss Legend and a versatile Paralympian on wheels, he has won 14-Gold, 6-Silver and 1-Bronze in athletics and another bronze medal in hand-cycling.
David Lee Pearson: This Horse-Rider from the US has won 10-Medals within 2-years between 2000 and 2012. Currently, he also holds 4-Gold Medals at European, World and Paralympic levels.
Esther Mary Vergeer: She is a Dutch and retired Wheelchair Tennis Player. She has named after her 7-Golds in singles and doubles between the years 2000 and 2012. She has also won almost 1140 matches in total with only 60 at losing side.
Natalia Dorota Partyka: She is a Polish Table Tennis Player. She was born without a right hand and also forearm, who has started playing at the age of 11. She today is the holder of 3-Golds, 1-Silver and 1-Bronze Medals.
Ellie Simmonds: Originally, Eleanor May Simmonds, this British Paralympic Swimmer has won several dozen titles & medals. To name a few, she won BBC Young Sports Personality of the Year award in 2008. She also broke a single world record twice within a gap of two days in 2012 Summer Paralympics. The girl has also held the title of 10 Gold World Championships.
In 1972, India got its first Paralympic Gold Winner through Murlikant Petkar, a jawan ( Indian Army-men) of Indian Army disabled in the 1965 War between Pakistan and India. He won a medal in 1972 Summer Paralympics by participating in Table Tennis.
A drop amidst thousands of players, who join in Paralympics periodically each year, these so-said “disables” has actually proven to be more than able! These Paralympics Players have made their shortcomings as their greatest strength.
