Murti Can Also Turn Into An Effective Symbol

 

Murti is nothing but a representation that can be either a lord, human or animal. It is speechless, but you still visit temples and keep them in the special place of your home temples. You sit and do long-hour puja and worship for prosperity and happiness. Know more about murti:

 

 

1. Murti In Other Languages

      In English, it is “idol,” and in Hindi, it is “murti”. It does not symbolise a Hindu God, but it expresses a powerful deity. In Sanskrit, it means a “solid object.”

      It can also be said or written as murthi, vigraha or pratima.

 

 

2. Materials Used to Make Murti

      It can be made from materials like stones, wood, metals or pottery. In ancient times, many craftsmen used to inscribe texts describing their importance or some gestures.

      Nowadays, the idol Ganesha is made from eco-friendly materials rather than plaster of Paris.

 

 

3. Festive Importance Of Murti

      Murtis are participants of puja in Hinduism.

      For example, Ganesh murti in Ganesh festivals, Durga murti during 10 days of celebrating Navratri, Shiv Ji on Mahashivratri etc.

 

 

4. Murtis Can Be Both Expensive And Cost-effective

      Each murti is different in shape, attire and expression. There are mainly two types of categories.

      Raudra: It is meant to be fearful and terrifying. The lord Shiva and Kali Maa show Raudra expressions. It symbolises bones and violence.

      Shanti: It expresses and represents love, peace, wealth and flowers. Idols like Ganesh Ji and Saraswati reflect Shaanti expressions.

 

 

5. Worshipping Murti of God

      Murti is nothing but a representation that can be either a lord, human or animal. It is speechless, but you still visit temples to receive their blessings for yourself and your family. You keep them in the special place of your home temples. You sit and do long-hour puja and worship for prosperity and happiness.

      A true worshipper expresses their pain and happiness towards him by folding hands and offering flowers.

      Many devotees believe that God has infinite power to heal their wounds.

 

 

6. Murti As Symbol of Purity

      The murti or idol symbolises purity, faith and peace. Their expressions bring smiles and ecstasy to a true devotee’s face.

      Murti does not talk to you, but it has immense power to shower blessings and nothing in return.

 

 

7. Some Famous Murtis Considered Auspicious At Home

      Nataraja: It represents Lord Shiva’s dance form.

      Hanuman: 108ft in height, Hanuman murti signifies a pure and heartedly devotion shown to Lord Ram. He also idolises the absence of ego and mighty devotees.

      Laughing Buddha: The devotees to Lord Buddha believe in him and acknowledge him for an inner state of peace and wisdom. It is a belief that gifting a murti laughing Buddha brings good luck and happiness.

      Saraswati: She is said as the goddess of education, knowledge, arrival of the spring season, learning and purity.

 

 

Many murtis are also available online and offline stores made from precious metals like silver, gold and bronze. Many murtis are considered in the cultural events to mark the beginning of new shops, marriage, home purity and many more.
