Teja main hoon, mark idhar hai has become a cult dialogue in the ’80s and ’90s, spoken by the stock villain character, Paresh Rawal.

1. Born into a Gujarati Family, he studied at Lion’s Juhu High School. He did his further studies from Narsee Monjee College of Commerce and Economics, where he represented his acting skills in several inter-college drama festivals.

2. After his studies, he went to work with Bank of Baroda before setting his feet inside Bollywood.

3. After proving himself as a theatre artist, Rawal stepped into the film industry in 1984, making his debut with the Aamir Khan-starrer Holi.

4. He is the man who keeps alive the memories of characters like Baburao Ganpatrao Apte in Hera Pheri and Mr Bajaj and Teja in Andaz Apna Apna.

5. It would be wrong to call him just a comedian. He is a complete actor, with a diverse range of roles with various genres, including, comedic, supporting and negative characters.

6. Some of Rawal’s most classical performances have come in movies like Garam Masala, Woh Chokri, Tamanna, Raja, Hungama, Naam, OMG – Oh My God, and Table No. 21.

7. He also won the National Award for Best Supporting Actor for Who Chokri and Sir.

8. Some of his notable negative-roles are in the movies like Ramlakhan, Jigar, and Damini. He astounded everyone with his comical part of Teja in Andaz Apna Apna, a commercial success. It won many awards.

9. In 2012, he was playing the role of Kanjibhai in OMG – Oh My God. Despite many controversies, the film was a critical and commercial success.

10. In 2017, he was seen in the movie Guest In London and also, the thriller, Tiger Zinda Hai.

11. He is also seen in the biographical drama Sanju, in which he portrayed the role of Sanjay Dutt.

Paresh Rawal will be seen next in the movie, Toofan, releasing on 2 October 2020.
