Satish Shah: The Witty & Humorous Indravadhan Of Indian Television

If you are a 90s kid, you might know Indravadhan Sarabhai, the character portrayed by Satish Shah, whose life and journey inside the world of acting we will be exploring in the following blog.

1. Born on 25 June 1951, Satish Shah is a Hindi and Marathi film and television actor, loved even today for his perfect comic timing, witty comments and humorous performances.

2. Graduated from St. Xavier’s College and Film and Television Institute of India, Satish Shah decided to be an actor, when he was in the 12th standard.

3. In his College times, Satish Shah was pretty good at both sports and academics. He used to play a lot of indoor and outdoor games.

4. Shah played more than 50 different characters in a year in his first sitcom Yeh Jo Hai Zindagi, directed by Kundan Shah and Manjul Shah.

5. After Yeh Jo Hai Zindagi, Dilip Dhawan offered him a small role in Saath Saath, where Satish met his future wife, Madhu.

6. It was not the first time he met Madhu. In fact, Shah had proposed Madhu two times but got rejected. He wanted to try his luck for the third time without knowing that she will finally say yes!

They both married in 1972, and Shah considers Madhu as his lucky charm.

7. Satish Shah then appeared in most of the Kundan Shah’s movies and T.V Series such as Jaane Bhi Do Yaaro, Kya Kehna, Yeh Jo Hai Zindagi, Albert Pinto Ko Gussa Kyo Ata Hai, etc.

Satish Shah had a beautiful relationship with Kundan Shah since college.

8. After having a great and happy time with Cinema, there came a saddest phase in Shah’s life, when he lost both his parents in three months in 1986.

But Satish Shah understands this is also a part of life.

9. Apart from his career in Bollywood, Shah has also performed in sitcoms like Yeh Jo Hai Zindagi, Dekh Bhai Dekh, Ghar Jamai, and Sarabhai Vs Sarabhai.

From Sarabhai Vs Sarabhai, Shah gave us a memorable character as Indravadhan.

10. In 2004, Farah Khan offered Satish Shah two roles in Main Hoon Na: first as College Dean and second, the role of a ‘spitty-teacher’. And of course, we all know, he chose the latter.

11. Satish Shah has also been a judge in the Comedy Circus laughter contest.
