With the following Sweets of South India, we can say that steadily, South Indian trends are turning familiar to the people of North, West, North-East and East of India.
- Pootharekulu Kunda
Much savoured in Andhra Pradesh, this sweet of South India is a sweet-roll, made with rice turned into sheets and filled with Sugar and Nuts.
- Khubani Ka Meetha
A sweet made with apricots and Gulab Jal, this one is famous in South India, especially in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. Khubani or Khubani means Dry Apricot.
- Mysore Pak
This sweet has spread over India and is one of the most loved in Northern parts of India as well. It is made with Ghee, Gram Flour, Cardamom and Sugar.
- Ada Pradhaman
Loved delicacy during the Onam Festival, Ada Pradhaman is quick to make and just yum-yum! It is made with Ada Rice, Payasam, Coconut, Nuts and Jaggery from Palm.
- Ilayappam
This sweet again belongs to Kerala. A different thing about this one is that it is made with the help of Banana Leaves. It is amongst the widely eaten Sweets of South India.
- Tirunelveli Halwa
A speciality of Tamil Nadu, this Halwa is peculiar as it is made with Samba Gothumai or the Milk of Samba Whole Wheat Berries. It is also called Gothumai Halwa.
- Sakkarai Pongal (Sweet Pongal)
Pongal has become a known Southern Indian Sweet, other than Mysore Pak. Again a delicacy of Tamil Nadu, it is made with rice and jaggery.
