9 Things You Will Need For Feeding Your Baby In The First Year

It is very human to be confused about things you will need for feeding your baby in the first year. It is also very tough and confusing for first-time parents to know what to feed their young ones. Here’s a start,

9 things you will need for feeding your baby in the first year:-

  1. Infant Formula or Breast Milk
  • Breast milk or formula provides your baby with all the nutrients that are needed for growth.
  • 0-4 months – 2 to 4 ounces, 4-12 months – 6 to 8 ounces 
  • feedings per day – Eight to Twelve (0-4 months)
  • feedings per day – three to six (4-12 months)
  1. Infant Cereal
  • 4-6 months – 1 to 2 tablespoons
  • 6-12 months – 2 to 4 tablespoon
  1. Fruits
  • 4-6 months – 1 to 2 tablespoons plain or strained
  • 7-12 months – 2 to 4 tablespoons soft mashed or strained
  • feedings per day – 2 times per day (4-12 months)
  1. Vegetables
  • 4-6 months – 1 to 2 tablespoons plain or strained
  • 7-12 months – 2 to 4 tablespoons soft mashed or strained
  • feedings per day – 2 times per day (4-12 months)
  1. Meat and protein foods
  • 4-8 months – 1 to 2 tablespoons strained 
  • 9-12 months – 2 to 3 tablespoons tender chopped 
  • feedings per day – 2 times per day (4-12 months)
  1. Snacks
  • Crackers – 2 (6-12 months)
  • bread – 1/2 slice (6-12 months)
  • pasta – 3 to 4 tablespoons (8-12 months)
  1. Juice or water
  • 0 to 3 ounces (6-12 months)
  1. Cheese  
  •   1/2 ounce
  1. Yoghurt
  • 1/2 cup

NOTE: It is a must for the parents to educate and inform themselves about the nutritional needs of their newborn babies. Solid foods can’t be fed to a baby till it’s at least 4-months-old. 

Proper care and diet review from a paediatrician is vital and advisable. So, please pay regular visits to the paediatrician and stock up things you will need for feeding your baby in the first year.
