1. FEDORA

The first on our list of different types of hats is a fedora. It is a felt-hat with pinched sides and lengthwise creased down the crown. That gives the front a roughly wedge-like shape, though it can be moulded according to the wearer’s taste.

2. TRILBY

This type of hats are consistently worn with the brimmed snapped downward in front and upward from the back. It adds the impression of a narrowing angle from the back.

3. HOMBURG

It is best suitable for a formal business look. It has the same Creased crown, but without the pinches at the side, and the brim is stiffer and has a slightly upturned lip all around.

4. PORKPIE

A porkpie has a flattened top without the crease down the centre. This hat is best suitable for men who are already tall.

5 BOWLER/DERBY  

A stiff, rounded dome of a crown with no creasing nor pinching, and a short curled brim at sides. This hat is more likely considered less formal than homburg and the fedora.

6. WESTERN HAT

Western hats are highly crowned and widely brimmed hats. The most common style has “double crown”, where felt is stiffened with creased down the centre. A dimple on either side of the crown. These style hats are more macho than other formal styles.

7. BOATER

Widely brim, Flat-topped straw hats, boaters are mostly innovative items these days but still are considered desirable attire for rowing and regatta events.

8. PANAMA HATS

Panama hats are more relaxed than their felt counterpart. These types of hats are made from woven palm leaves or straw instead of felts. That makes Panama hats more likely to be suitable for lightweight styles and loosened formality of tropical climate.
